Frequently asked questions
Pro990 supports Form 990-N (e-Postcard) for small nonprofits with gross receipts ≤ $50,000, Form 990-EZ for organizations with receipts under $200,000 and assets under $500,000, and Form 8868 for automatic 6-month extensions.
It depends on your organization's gross receipts and total assets. If receipts are $50,000 or less, file 990-N. If receipts are under $200,000 and assets under $500,000, file 990-EZ. Need more time? File an 8868 extension first.
All 990-series returns are due the 15th day of the 5th month after your tax year ends. For most calendar-year nonprofits, the deadline is May 15. Form 8868 gives you an automatic 6-month extension.
The IRS automatically revokes your tax-exempt status. Reinstatement requires Form 1023/1024 and costs $600 or more.
